AVIATE was founded in 2022 in Akasaka, Tokyo. We build TASKBASE for the operations managers, finance leads, and HR coordinators who have been designing business processes for years — and who shouldn't need to file an IT ticket to automate them.
The people behind AVIATE
Before AVIATE, Ryota spent four years at a Japanese SaaS company building internal automation tooling. He watched operations teams queue requests to an engineering team that was always focused elsewhere — and decided in 2022 that the process owner should be the one who builds the automation.
Saki spent six years managing procurement and vendor operations at a mid-size trading company in Tokyo. She built spreadsheet-based approval systems that worked — until they didn't. She joined Ryota in 2022 to design TASKBASE from the perspective of the people who actually run these processes.
Kenji's background is in distributed task execution systems. He leads TASKBASE's node execution engine — the runtime responsible for running, retrying, logging, and branching workflow steps at scale. He cares deeply about execution correctness and the auditability of every run.
Emi works with operations, finance, and HR teams from their first workflow through to complex multi-department automations. Her role is half onboarding and half process design — she helps teams identify which processes to automate first and how to structure approval chains in TASKBASE to reflect how their organisation actually works.

In 2022, Ryota was watching an operations team at a Tokyo SaaS company manage a vendor onboarding process across twelve manual steps: a kintone form submission, a Slack DM to the procurement lead, a shared Google Sheet where status was tracked, and four approval emails — each of which could stall for days when the right person was unavailable. The process was completely understood by the ops team. It was completely out of their hands to fix.
The engineering team had the capability to automate it. They also had a product roadmap, a sprint backlog, and a long queue of higher-priority requests. When the ops team's automation ticket finally surfaced, the process had already changed twice.
AVIATE started from a single observation: the people who understand the process in the most detail are never the people who can build the automation. That gap is not a skills problem — it's a tools problem. We set out to close it.
What we believe about no-code
No-code automation is not about hiding complexity from developers. It is about putting the right tool in the hands of the person who owns the process. An operations manager who has run a purchase approval cycle for three years knows exactly which spend thresholds need a second approver, which vendors require a compliance check, and which escalation path to use when the primary approver is on leave. That knowledge should be the automation — not a requirements document that gets translated into code by someone who wasn't in the room.
TASKBASE is not a replacement for engineering. We do not handle custom integrations, complex backend logic, or systems that require a developer to maintain. What we handle is the repeatable, policy-driven, human-in-the-loop process work that currently lives in spreadsheets and email threads — and should live in an auditable, self-service workflow tool instead.

We build for Japanese operations teams first, because the requirements of mid-size Japanese company back-offices are specific: a strong expectation of auditability at every approval step, a consensus-based decision culture that means many approvals require routing to multiple people, and a tool ecosystem that includes kintone, SmartHR, and Freee alongside global platforms like Slack and Google Workspace.
All customer data is stored in Japan-region data centers. We do not transfer workflow execution data outside Japan. This is not an incidental feature — it is a design decision made for the buyers we serve.
